Guebwiller is where my two schools are located. There are three high schools total, and they serve most students from the surrounding towns and villages. The population is only about 11,000, but there's a decently nice main street with shops, markets, a cinema, and restaurants. Théodore Deck was a renowned ceramicist from Guebwiller, and was known for his "Deck blue". There's a museum featuring his work right around the corner from Lycée Deck, my main school, but I haven't had a chance to visit yet! Also very nearby is the Parc de la Marseillaise, which has a little monument to Monsieur Deck. I really don't spend much time in Guebwiller itself when I'm not teaching, as I prefer to run around and take photos on the trails near my house or hole up at home with a book or movie.
I'm also including pictures from my trip to the Ecomusée back in October. It's located in Ungersheim, about 7 miles from where I live, and definitely worth a visit if you're interested in Alsatian heritage or just want to see a darling village of pastel buildings and farm animals.
